As for the ghetto around Chinatown..you know that shit ain’t too nice on the south and east side of Chinatown. Even though as I said that shit goin away in a hurry. They puttin up all the new high rises all around the area. That’s why you see less poor niggas walkin around between the cars beggin for money over there these days. Especially that one mother fucker that ain’t got any legs. I haven’t seen him over there in over a year, and I doubt his ass died. That’s one of those rugged ass niggas that was gonna survive no matter what came his way.
Detroit is only rough in certain pockets of the suburbs within the city (the downtown area has lower crime rate than the national average). Obviously it ain’t perfect, but the majority of it is all media perpetuated cause the people in the farther suburban outskirts (and the rest of America) eat that shit up.
But in regards to gentrification, now that Detroit’s brought in Comp USA, AAL, and performed various downtown redevelopment projects, real estate developers are building all these lofts (out of the extremely old office buildings) that only middle and upper class people can afford. This is obviously raising the value of the existing housing and apartments, pushing out the lower class. But thank god the mayor is at least trying to watch out for the rest of the city, though, by giving tax breaks to the suburban neighborhoods that need it. Unfortunately, with all this peak oil shit, Detroit’s suburbs will probably always be fucked. It don’t matter though, I guess. Nobody gives a shit about Detroit. They just wanna talk shit say you’re gonna get shot.
